Another Abby Post

So I know that pretty much all of my posts revolve around Abby and pictures of Abby, but to be honest i don't really take pictures of much else. All is well here. We had a visit from Grandma and Grandpa Gould last week. Sheila is still here and will be for the next month or so. She is going to stay with Abby while David and I head up to Minnesota next weekend.

Evan, Leah, and Abby on the trampoline. We now live on the north side of Nashville. One of the benefits of being up here is that we are much closer to the Wickerts and are able to see them a bit more. Abby loves the trampoline. I have no idea what they are all doing, but they are having fun. Another good thing about being up here is that we have started going to a new church. We already know some people who go here and it has been nice being able to get involved and get to know some new people better.

David and Abby at the park near the lake. We stopped to feed the ducks some animal crackers. Fortunately we didn't bring Sydney this time or she would have been going crazy trying to chase them, not that she would actually know what to do with a duck once she caught up to it. :)

Our last new obstacle has been the beginnings of potty training. We've been doing it a little bit mostly in the mornings. She likes to sit on the toilet, but just won't go. She holds it until she gets off and can go in her pull-up. Anybody have any suggestions? I guess she'll figure it out eventually.

Hi Jenn! My idea on potty training is taking away the pull-up. That's the only thing that worked for Jacob. That, and I had to bring the "little" potty back out before he'd go. It is a struggle...just my two cents! Good luck! What are you going to Minnesota for?? Hugs~ Nan

The top photo is a beautiful portrait of Abigail.
The other pics are great too.

Hi Jenn, Cute pictures. I'm sure you remember our struggles with Jenna and the whole potty issue. There is no "one right way", each child is unique in that matter. It is a control issue and one that "they" do control. I would try rewards, such as stickers, etc., for when she does use the potty. Another thought, Jenna was more willing to use the potty for Aunt Barb and Grandma than when she was under our care. Grandma Sheila may be able to get her started while you two are away, just a thought.

Love,

Rosie

Jen,
I know all of my posts revolve around our kids too. Every once in awhile I try to remember to take pictures of other things too, but it takes effort!

Potty training is such a challenge! We tried all sorts of things with Benaiah - stickers, m&ms, and a bribe that once he was potty trained he could get a tricycle (they all helped.) I think the thing that helped most though was setting the timer for every 15-30 minutes and just setting him on the toilet. He liked to look at toy magazines, so this helped him to stay on the toilet too.

I found what Nanette said about taking the pullups away and dealing with the mess helps too (not fun, but it makes it uncomfortable for them.) Just some things that worked for us.

Now I am on the eve of doing it all over again!

May God give you wisdom!

Sarah

Hi Jenn! =) Abigail is SO cute! We have JUST about got Jackson potty trained after close to a year of working at it. It has been very frustrating at times but we finally realized we just had to take away the pull-ups and deal with accidents. He's done great for about a week or two so we're hoping he doesn't regress when the new one shows up in a couple weeks! That's great ya'll found a new church you love- that's so important! If you get a chance, go to Todd's facebook page and he has a link to a sermon Mo gave on Mother's Day! SO FUNNY! Love you!
